This was our FRIDAY night-
This was our first show there. It got fucked up from the start when they double-booked several bands for the night. The guy we were working with on the booking was cool-but he couldn't get his bands/dates in line, and then he had to run everything past that little prick of a manager. We were told to have bands there by 7:30 or 8 for them to load in, and all the bands were there on time. They wouldn't let anyone load their gear in till after 8:30 when the sound guy finally got there. They were supposed to charge $5.00 at the door-the local bands get paid off this money. Doors opened at 8pm, but they didn't have someone at the door checking ID and charging till about 8:45! At about that time, I went around and counted how many people were in the bar, and there was about 65, however the guy running the door only had 25 on his counter for people who had paid. And that guy kept walking away and leaving it unattended so people got in for free anyhow. How are local bands supposed to get anything if this is how the bar is run?
The lineup of which bands were going on which time slots was all set up ahead of time, and I let the bands know which slot they were in-since I booked all but one of them. When we got there the manager pushed my guys to the last slot-saying the national band WASN'T playing last. WTF whatever.
Our guys weren't that worried at all about the money, or the slot. It's shitty but that's the way it goes sometimes. We were more pissed off about the disorganization and the attitude of the manager. They were supposed to be running a special on jagerbombs for us but decided not to start that deal till 9pm and end it at midnight. SHITTY. Our friends all came early and stayed almost the whole night-getting hammered and having fun- making a LOT of money for the bar. We got nothing in return but a big F YOU, and attitude.
The show was awesome. ALL of the bands put on an excellent show. My guys did one of their best performances yet- and played a double-set (hour and a half). We brought more people than any of the other bands. I promoted the hell out of the show in the weeks before it and you could tell.
Right before they got done playing, I went to cash out our tab at the bar so I wouldn't forget- we have had to go back to bars at least once for this!! The tab said $50.00!! I added a $4.00 tip and signed the slip. We HAD bought a few jagerbombs for our friends who were there celebrating their birthdays. Five actually. Jason had two beers and I had two amaretto sours. Jason said he thought something was wrong with the tab-that it couldn't be right- so we went to the bar to ask for a printed receipt of the drinks charged to us. The tab said we had ordered 4 blondeheaded sluts or something like that also -at $4.00 each. I don't even know what the hell that drink is! So we told the bartender lady that it was wrong, we didn't order those, and she immediately tried to say we "forgot" what we had ordered. ("did you maybe order a round for some friends?") Neither of us was anywhere near being drunk, on 2 drinks each- we know what the F we ordered and drank- ya know? Jason got kinda irritated when she acted like we were lying. He told her to fix it. I told her (NOT yelling or cussing or anything) we understand that it's difficult serving a bunch of drunks, and that accidents DO happen, and that we just want to take care of it. She eventually took the extra drinks off the tab, and gave Jason a new slip to sign for 34.00. She told him he didn't need to take it out on her-because he was very pissy at this point. (However he WAS NOT being violent or out of hand or anything, just bitchy as hell.) Who were we supposed to blame for this mistake? SHE fucked it up! All she kept saying is how hard she worked and that it happens. He forgot(honest) to add the tip back on the new slip-so she bitched about that too. And on a side note- Jason said the old slip she gave him was for $59.00, so she had changed my 4 to a 9 (for her tip) on the original slip. THAT pissed me off- but I didn't know this till after we had left. After signing the new slip for $34.00 Jason asked if he could get a receipt to show that the $59.00 one was voided, to be sure he didn't get double charged-as this has happened several times to us. She said "it was taken off", and later handed him a voided receipt.
The bartender and Jason were both still mumbling shit to each other as he and I walked away and I told him to just let it go and "let's go pack up the gear and go home". We walked over to where the stage is, and he started gathering his bandmates and gear to load back into the trailer. I was smoking a cigarette, talking to my friends, sipping on water. The bouncers came up to me and said "Maam, you need to leave". I told them I was just waiting on my guys to get the trailer loaded, and that I was with Jason and riding with him. They said I had to leave NOW. I asked why and they wouldn't tell me anything-just that I had to leave. Then the manager came over and told them "if she won't leave-pick her up and throw her out the door". WHAT THE FUCK?? I didn't do anything wrong and with no explanation I don't get it. Bunch of BS and NOW i WAS pissed off. I went out the back door where the guys were loading the trailer and told them what happened. Jason was immediately pissed and ready to fight. He said it was completely uncalled for. They told him he was kicked out too. So the rest of the guys had to move all the gear because they wouldn't let us go back in for ANYTHING. ASSHOLES. I would understand if we were in a fistfight or something, or obligerent drunk and stupid. But it was just because we wanted them to correct our bill?? BULLSHIT!
So now we are boycotting the Whiskey Lounge and telling everyone about this "fantastic" experience. Our friends and other bands and venues know this is NOT what we are about, and that RELEASE THE CRIMSON is a stand-up, organized, reliable band. We bring a crowd. We are there from the start to the end- EVERY time. We ALWAYS help clean up the bar even-when the show is done. We have mopped floors for venues before!!! So screw the Whiskey Lounge- at least til that asshole manager isn't someone we have to deal with!!
**********ALSO- TWO DAYS LATER-
They have threatened to take us to court over the emails/boycotting saying it's highly illegal. must be a great business if they are that threatened by myspace, and us FUCKING with them hahah. They are claiming Jason owes them money for a door that was broken before we got there. Jason says "yeah I'll just give you my credit card so you can charge whatever you want on it again". Smart ass. They say they are taking us to court. "see ya there!"

Wow, I have had bad experiences at other places before, but I have never even been to the whiskey before. We are scheduled to play there thursday, thanks for the heads up. Sounds like we are walking into a veritable pit of assholes.
Yeah, we've had a shitload of booking problems with those fools too. Not only that, the dudes in (this band) told me that the owner/GM has about five rape charges against him! Fuck The Rape Lounge!
I actually just saw you guys for the first time at the Orbit Room, and have been planning to come see more shows.. I will keep it in mind. I have never really heard good things about the Whiskey Lounge.. but shit! Hopefully you were able to get all your gear out of there. Because your fans sort of rely on you guys, it's good to keep telling people about your experience.. then one day when you are rich and famous.. you can rub it in their faces that they were assholes, and missed out big by fucking you all over... Revenge... best served cold.. :)
We are playing there thursday. Perhaps we can turn things around knowing what we know now?
a lengthy tale, but a good one. i understand where you are coming from completely. I will be sure not to hand over any plastic to these people when we are there on thursday. As far aa that all goes, we'll see if anything goes on with us, and if the production company that hired us is able to handle things to make sure they take care of the entertainment, should anything happen. Saying that almost makes me wish something would happen, just to see if everyone out there is legit and how a situation gets handled when its not the venue that is responsible to us. Not really though, I never wish for a hard time, but if this is whats going on with you guys, I guess I can expect it. They will find out really quick how much of a dick I can be when I get pissed; at every show, typically, I am happy as can be, and still hyper-agressive, so... yeah, this outta be good. Pc- J

That's fucked up. We've played there a few times and never had a problem. I have heard that the manager doesn't like metal bands even though every time we've played there it packs out and we bring the heaviest drinkers in town. Sorry that shit happened to you guys.

Sorry about the whiskey lounge BS. We've had to deal with that kind of crap from here to Detroit on multiple occasions.
I read it first thing...what the fuck man...we try to get a good bar in this dam town and they have to try to ass rape evryone...It's just not right...How the hell I am suposed to cover bands ect when they have no place to play in GR that's worth a shit...

The same thing happened to us BOTH times we played there - except the over charging part.
The first time was due to weather, so we discounted that one.
The second one though...Uuugh... We were told we were gonna get paid $150 bucks for our performance. there was a little under a 100 people there (good turnout), but at the last minute a band called the Last Vegas wanted to play (their show was canceled due to Def Leppard canceling their show) and they got all the attention.
I stuck around until almost 3am waiting for payment, only to find out that a regional act that did no advertising and only had like five people stick around for them got the money over the three acts that were supposed to get it.
Just like you guys, the money is a perk - we just like playing for people, but when you are told you are gonna get paid no matter what, that's a different story.
All the Whiskey wants is "local" bands like Pop-Evil playing there - they want as big of a cut of the pie as they can get. I think it's because every time I went there I always thought of the end of Robocop... Ugly ass area.
Funny, I was JUST reading this in your bulletin. I'll make sure none of the bands I manage go there. Local bands get jacked around enough as it is and with the limited venues they think they can pull this shit. You definetly have my support. Believe me I'll be telling this story to people I know and when they ask me to book a show with them I'll be telling them to kiss my ass. Thanks for the info. and it's good to see that people dont keep taking this shit lying down. It's hard enough in this industry, we dont need douches like that making it even worse. Hails!!!

I will be sure NOT to book a show there or even go there for a show! Assholes! Further more, the changing numbers on your credit card receipt is FRAUD period, end of story! I would pursue that if you have the receipt still. Atleast get her fired or in big trouble for it. I hate to think that people are doing that kind of shit! I believe it has happened to me before, actually.
